I’ve been watching Blake race his USAC Midget at Madera Speedway for quite some time. This summer, we finally decided to team up and document his race day. My very first impression of Blake was of the most genuinely nice kid, with the keenest sense of hospitality I’ve ever experienced. I wasn’t even able to set down my bags before he was making sure I knew where food and drinks were, and how everything was going that weekend! With mom being the official records keeper for the racing class, and being pitted next to the race director, the Brannon pits were bustling with traffic all weekend. Friends, competitors, and his own extended family were all part of the weekend’s action. Here are some of my favorites from the race.
