At 11 years of age, Austin Edwards has been racing more than half his life. This year, he is part of the inaugural season of the Madera Speedway Junior Late Models. These are the same late model stock cars their adult counterparts race, with very minor engine restrictions in place. These kids, aged 10-16, are running nearly identical lap times as the adults. Austin is a consistent front-of-the-pack runner, and earned the checkered flag victory at Race #3 this season. Austin also races with a cause. He supports his local no-kill animal shelter, Yucaipa Animal Placement Society, with volunteer time and a portion of all his sponsorships and winnings. His family has become a great blessing to me on a personal level. Documenting their day in July 2016 was a wonderful privilege. Here are some of my personal favorite photos from their album.
